From its origins as a pioneer program in 1970, Swedish Family Medicine residency program at First Hill has been committed to creating the best educational environment for developing family physicians for more than 50 years.

MISSION

To train family physicians to serve local and global communities through exceptional patient care, leadership, and advocacy for health and social justice.

VISION

Led by our communities, we train Family Medicine physicians to provide adaptable, equitable and full-spectrum care across all environments

———

We believe a family physician's skills need to be tailored to the communities they serve. Because of this, we ensure that all of our residents are trained in Suboxone therapy, gender affirming hormone therapy for trans patients, comprehensive reproductive healthcare for women, and identifying and mitigating the impacts of racism in the medical system.

We recognize that diversity encompasses a broad array of identities, and we believe a diverse physician workforce is essential to meeting the needs of our patients and community. We actively advocate for social change, as structures of power and oppression are predominant determinants of people's health. As a program, we emphasize the importance of diversity throughout clinical training and we are committed to self-examination regarding implicit biases.

Please explore our website to learn more about our approach to Family Medicine education and patient care across 3 distinct clinical sites and two fellowship opportunities in advanced Obstetrics and Geriatric Medicine.  Welcome!
