R1 Advancement Criteria
By the completion of the PGY-1 year, it is:
Recommended:
That the resident has successfully completed USMLE III (or equivalent). This is assuming the resident had completed USMLE I & II prior to arrival. If they have not taken Part II, they will be required to take it during their 1st year, within the first 6 months.
Required:
That the resident has successfully completed ACLS prior to starting residency
That the resident attended 33% of didactics, openers, and case conferences
That the resident has successfully completed 13 blocks of academic rotations
That the resident has turned in completed available self evaluations for rotations, and has submitted evaluations to the attending for each rotation by the beginning of block 13
Final determination is done by the Clinical Competency Committee and approved by the Program Director based on academic performance across the domains of the core competencies.
R2 Advancement Criteria
By the completion of the PGY-2 year, it is:
Recommended:
That the resident attended and passed each of the following workshops:
Casting
Suturing
Colpo
Practice Management
That the resident has updated their procedural log by the end of the year (preferably on a monthly basis)
That the resident successfully complete ALSO
That the resident participate in the O'Dea sports physicals (required once in R2 or R3 year)
Required:
Successful completion of the R1 year is prerequisite.
That the resident has successfully completed USMLE III (or equivalent) by November 1
That the resident attended 50% of all didactics, openers, and case conferences
That the resident successfully complete NRP
That the resident has successfully completed 13 blocks of academic rotations
That the resident has completed the required readings for each of the 13 rotations as noted on the self-evaluation form
That the resident has turned in completed self evaluations for each of the 13 rotations, and has submitted evaluations to the attending for each rotation by the beginning of block 13
Final determination is done by the Clinical Competency Committee and approved by the Program Director based on academic performance across the domains of the core competencies.
R3 Advancement Criteria
By the completion of the PGY-3 year, it is
Required:
Successful completion of the R1 and R2 year is prerequisite.
By August 1, the resident must have obtained a full medical license otherwise the resident will be put on unpaid administrative leave until a valid license is on file
That the resident participate in the O'Dea sports physicals (required once in R2 or R3 year)
That the resident has successfully completed ALSO
That the resident attended 50% of all didactics, openers, and case conferences
That the resident has attended ten Ethics Conferences over three years
That the resident has completed four shadowed visits with one of the behavioral science faculty (two per residency year)
That the resident has completed 13 blocks of academic rotations
That the resident has attended 100 hours of practice management activities (including Pick an Partner/Pick a Practice once during either R2 or R3 year)
That the resident has turned in completed self evaluations for each of the 13 rotations, and has submitted evaluations to the attending for each rotation by the beginning of block 13.
That the resident present at the R3 Talks or equivalent academic project approved by the director
That the resident has completed their procedural log
Final determination is done by the Clinical Competency Committee and approved by the Program Director based on academic performance across the domains of the core competencies.
